Data protection
All data received and processed within this online service is treated with strict confidentiality in accordance with the legal provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act Bundesdatenschutzgesetzes (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act Telemediengesetzes (TMG).
These laws prohibit the transfer of your personal data to third parties. Data is used only to process your enquiries and applications. By submitting an application, applicants automatically consent to the storage of their data for the purpose of the specific project.
Normally it is possible to use our website without supplying any personal data. In cases where we ask you for personal data (such as your name, address or email address), as far as possible this is always on a voluntary basis. We do not pass this data on to anyone else without obtaining your express consent.
We point out that the Internet-based transmission of data (e.g. email communications) may not always be completely secure. Absolute protection of data from access by third parties is not possible. We recommend that applications in response to advertised vacancies are sent via our online application form, which uploads the data directly onto our system using an encrypted connection (SSL).
Contact data is published in the legal notice in order to comply with the requirements of German media law. Any use of it by third parties for the transmission of unsolicited advertising and information materials is expressly prohibited. The operators of the site expressly reserve the express right to take legal action in response to any unsolicited advertising sent to them, e.g. in spam emails.
We log IP addresses in order to find out which domains and regions visitors to our website come from. We evaluate this data in order to identify trends and compile statistics, after which the data is deleted. It is not usually possible for us to link this data directly to specific individuals. We do not merge this data with data from other sources. This site uses JavaScript and cookies, predominantly for the storage of session data. Personal information is stored on our servers only where it is necessary in order to deal with enquiries or provide requested services.
We make use of “Piwik” open-source web analysis software to evaluate usage of the site. “Piwik” enables us to track which pages are visited in which order, for example, and how long a user stays on a particular page. The purpose of this information is to help us improve the structure and content of our website. We cannot link this data directly to any specific individual. The data is collected directly by our provider and is only accessible to a restricted and known group of individuals. Unlike solutions such as “google analytics”, “Piwik” has a configuration option that complies with German data protection provisions. For this reason the Schleswig Holstein Independent Centre for Privacy Protection (Unabhängiges Landeszentrum für Datenschutz, ULD) advocates the use of “Piwik”. If you do not wish your access data to be evaluated, you can switch it off by means of a cookie (a small text file stored on your computer). To turn off the feature, cookies must be activated in your browser. Please note: if you turn off tracking and later delete the stored browser cookies or use a different browser, you may have to repeat this deactivation process.

Why we do not use Facebook plugins
We do not include any plugins for the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA on our site. You will recognize Facebook plugins by the Facebook logo or the “Like” button on websites.
Background: When you visit websites that use a “Like” button for Facebook, the plugin is used to establish a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. Information is then passed to Facebook about your IP address and the page you have visited. If you are logged in to Facebook in another window at the same time, a link can instantly be made between your IP address and the plugin loaded by Facebook. If you click the Facebook “Like” button while you are logged in to your Facebook account, you can link the contents of these pages to your Facebook profile. This makes it possible for Facebook to link your user account to pages you have visited. We would like to point out that website providers have no knowledge of the content of this transmitted data, or of the use made of it by Facebook. Further information on this can be found in Facebook’s data protection statement at http://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. If you do not want Facebook to be able to match the pages you visit to your Facebook user account, please log out of your Facebook user account. An overview of the Facebook plugins can be found here: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.
